How to Speed Paint the New Honey Stuart from Battlefront

By Ry

I’m back and I have managed to get my hands on one of the new Plastic Honey tanks from Battlefront. With all the new version 4 kits on the way and a pile of Team Yankee that stands higher than me. It’s time to look at quick ways to get the new releases on the table as quick as possible. Not to mention that they are just 5 points for a troop of 3 tanks and to fill a full squadron you’re going to need 3 boxes for 27 points (did I type that… oops)

PART 2

Now….to start on the figures.

VMC 886 Green Grey for the shoes…..if I go over the black shoes in grey….they don’t look like they’ve just been fitted at a shoe store.

VMC 921 British Uniform now for the pants and all figures.

Again….I’m trying to leave the cracks and crevices black and just paint the raised surfaces.

I don’t know about you….but as I get older and progress through my hobby I get better at painting figures. It gets to a point where you look back at what you painted when you started and it’s so bad that you don’t want to take it out of the case anymore. This 25 Pounder Battery is such a case. I bought and painted them about 6 years ago and don’t even want to look at them anymore. As a result I’ve decided to re-do them and give them a…. extreme makeover.

Please note that David uses a mix range of paints, to make it easier for the reader all paints have be matched to the Vallejo Model Color.

How to Paint an A7V tank GGBX01 Battlefront

Well I was planning to enter my A7V’s in the Battlefront Great War Painting Competition but could only get my Stoss Platoon ready in time.

For me the A7V’s were the first items built from the great box set Biltz’s Battlegroup (GGEAB1) and took about 2 minutes to clean-up ready for the painting table.

After spending far too much time on google images looking at A7V’s it was time to start.

Check out the finished result.

Next….boots…..I am aware that there are official painting guides for these figures but I never use them. I look for pictures on the net and get colours close.

Boots are base coated in Dark Brown.

PART 1 US Armoured Infantry – Step by Step Painting Guide

Someone has recently asked me for a step by step painting guide. I hope this is of assistance. I’m doing the 3rd Late War US Armoured Platoon for Wazza’s Army. I believe my method might be a bit different to others….I start by simply basing the unpainted figures on the etched bases according to the Platoon diagram. I try to get the mix of Rifles, MG’s and SMG’s as per the diagram. I then use the normal Polly filler to fill the bases and cover over the Figure stands. A base nearly filled with Polly filler. I use my hobby knife or anything else that is flat. Continue reading
